Since, we released the last minor update for Circulets on May 28 (we added two new colour themes: Chinatown and Rossoneri, and some performance improvements), we have been working on a couple of things within the game. We took all the feedback we got on the game, esp. at Casual Connect Asia 2013, and started figuring out how we can better what we had already implemented. In this post, I talk a bit about what we have been doing with the game (a lot would need to be discovered by you, once you update your copy).

The first thing that we went about working on was our interface. While the earlier interface worked, some users felt a general lack of context with all the menu options, esp. the Colour theme picker. It was a tough call for us, since we wanted the game to be explored and not really guide our users through a specific path. What we ended up with (shown below), is a little bit of both.

The next thing that was important for us was the Facebook feature in the game. In the earlier version, you could share your experience in the game on Facebook, but it required you to manually log in to Facebook through a small in-game browser to do so. Needless to say, in the last 4 months not a single player did that. This time, so, we went full steam ahead and integrated Facebook throughout the game natively. This one-click enabling of Facebook enables a lot of features in the game. You can now also tag your Facebook friends in the game and later on share your experience with a single click.

Next up, we went ahead and integrated Everyplay Replays (iOS only for now) into the game. Now when you finish playing the game, you can watch a replay of your round and share it on social networks too.

We also tweaked our Infinity mode a bit for performance. The new infinity mode replaces the older one, but works pretty much the same. Again, the time is infinite but the circulets are limited. And we added one new game mode: “On the Flip Side”, which as the name suggests flips the player sides.

A somewhat smaller update to the game is the addition of Game Center (iOS only). You can now unlock a few achievements in Game Center by playing Circulets. We hope to expand on this on a later date.

We have again tried to keep the game minimalistic and explorable. We don’t want the players to blindly collect circulets, but to engage and interact with each other. We hope you folks keep having fun with the game.

Thanks for all the love, we hope you enjoy the update.
